Okay, so I'm not really wanting to photoshop the images in this project. I feel to be true to the project, we should keep it as real as we can... but in my defense, the little bolts are actually a feature of my Web camera.
Hmm...interesting. I've already done a few of these: crop, color correct, resize, sharpen... Those make sense to me, as they're photo finishing tools. Is that what you mean?
All those are acceptable. I think we can take it a step further if we need to, as long as the original photo remains the basis. So far I've only had to do it once.

I think if needed we are allowed to photoshop or manipulate the image, as long as we don't 'create' the image using photoshop.
